/ / Warning Signs

Signs you need a panel upgrade.

Your panel will usually tell you when it's struggling. Here's what to look for — and when to call us.

Frequently tripping breakers

If your breakers trip regularly, your panel is overloaded — it can't handle your home's electrical demand.

Flickering or dimming lights

Lights that flicker when appliances kick on signal an undersized or failing panel struggling to keep up.

You have a 60-amp or 100-amp panel

Most modern homes need 200-amp service. A 60A panel is dangerously undersized for today's electrical loads.

Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel

These recalled panel brands have a documented history of breaker failure and fire risk. Replace immediately.

Adding an EV charger or major appliance

A dryer, EV charger, hot tub, or HVAC system may require more capacity than your current panel provides.

Burning smell or scorch marks

Any burning odor or discoloration around your panel is a serious electrical emergency. Call immediately.

/ / Panel Types

What size panel do you need?

We help you choose the right service size for your home's current needs and future plans.

100-Amp Service

Best for: Older homes, small cottages

The minimum for most modern homes — though many older KC properties still have 60A. We upgrade to 100A as a baseline when needed.

Most Common

200-Amp Service

Best for: Most modern homes — most common upgrade

The standard for most KC homes today. Supports EV chargers, central AC, electric ranges, and all modern appliances comfortably.

400-Amp Service

Best for: Large homes, workshops, EV fleet

For large homes with heavy loads, whole-home EV charging, workshops, or any situation requiring two 200A panels.

Subpanel Installation

Best for: Detached garages, additions, workshops

A secondary panel fed from your main panel — perfect for garages, shop buildings, or home additions that need their own circuit capacity.

Zinsco / GTE-Sylvania

Breakers can fuse to the bus bar and fail to trip, or arc and overheat. Same failure mode as Federal Pacific.

Replace immediately.

Pushmatic

Breakers become difficult or impossible to trip manually. Parts are no longer manufactured.
